What We DoThe Community Development Department of the City of Beverly Hills is responsible for the review and processing of development projects including land entitlements, zoning and plan review, inspection services, permit issuance, and code enforcement.
It also oversees programs such as rent stabilization, historic preservation program, animal control and records requests.
Community Development also provides staff assistance to 5 city commissions; including, Planning, Architectural, Design Review, Cultural Heritage, and Rent Stabilization.
What We're Looking forThe City of Beverly Hills is looking for a Project Staff Assistant for the Community Development Department.
This role is expected to assist with the planning, coordinating, and preparing of special events held city-wide.
The incumbent in this role is expected to assist with special events, filming related requests, and event permits.
Ideal candidate for this position should be a people person with effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
They should have strong interpersonal skills, presentation skills, collaboration skills, writing skills, thorough attention to detail, integrity, and self-management skills.
This position reports to the Special Events and Filming Coordinator in Community Development but may take direction from various staff city-wide.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Performs complex clerical work of an administrative support nature in specialized program/project areas.
Compiles and prepares data for a variety of reports.
Process permits, invoices and related fiscal documents; provides effective customer service.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Compiles information and prepares materials and documents for various programs and projects.
Assists in the organization, coordination and implementation of a variety of programs, projects and special events.
Processes and issues permits including permits for films and special events.
Assists with the coordination with other City departments, in issuing film, special events and related permits.
Conducts routine studies and surveys and gathers data and information for a variety of projects and programs related, but not limited to, public information, marketing, filming and special events.
Maintains records of budget expenditures and processes invoices and related forms and documents.
Assists with the application of rules, regulations and policies.
Provides staff support and assists with the coordination of contracts, agreements, leases and services.
Assists in preparing agreements and contracts and monitors compliance with applicable terms.
Assists with the preparation and updates of the events calendar, website and other informational sites and materials.
Informs and updates division management staff calendar.
Responds to public inquiries.
Attends and participates in meetings to share and receive new information.
Provides support and assists with locating sources of information and obtains job related data.
Provides assistance in the preparation of routine reports, correspondence, e-mails, memos and documents.
Organizes and maintains files and record keeping systems to ensure control and accuracy of records and files.
Performs a variety of complex clerical tasks including, but not limited to, typing, filing, faxing, operating office equipment, processing forms, proof reading, responding to inquiries, request and complaints, and sorting mail.
Prepares meeting agenda, as required.
Schedules appointments and meetings and coordinates set-up for meetings.
Serves as a resource to the public, City departments and other agencies on departmental policies, programs and projects.
Performs related duties, as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree desirable in public or business administration, communication, public relations or a closely related field or any combination of education and experience.
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible office administrative experience which has included working in a team environment involving interaction with staff, event organizers, organizations and members of the community.
Possession of a valid California driver's license.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
